Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has initiated efforts to improve the city’s sewerage and drainage system.
The Urban Development Department has approved the installation of sewerage treatment plants at Bagunahatu Nala, Neem Bhatta Nala, Bihari Basti and Baridiha. However, prior attempts to implement the plan under the JNNURM scheme in 2009 failed due to land acquisition issues.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar assured, “Steps are being taken to prevent pollution in rivers. The new sewerage system will ensure that waste water is treated before entering water bodies.”
The project, estimated at Rs 7 crore, aims to enhance sanitation and environmental safety in Jamshedpur.
