Severe cold grips Jharkhand, temperature to drop further

Jamshedpur: Severe cold has enveloped Jharkhand, including the state capital Ranchi, bringing cold wave-like conditions during the night. The mornings are marked by dense fog, reducing visibility. According to the Meteorological Department, no significant change in the weather is expected on Wednesday. However, the minimum temperature is likely to drop further, intensifying the chill.
The Meteorological Center in Ranchi announced on its official X handle that the southern parts of the state will see stable temperatures over the next 24 hours. After that, the minimum temperature is forecast to decrease by 3-5 degrees Celsius in the next two days. Similar conditions are expected across the rest of the state, indicating a further dip in temperatures over the coming days.
Ranchi experienced a light foggy morning, which gradually cleared as the sun came out, leading to a maximum temperature of 27°C. In other regions, light rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours. The highest temperature was 28.4°C in Daltonganj, while Gathwa recorded the lowest at 9.8°C.
As the cold intensifies, residents have started lighting bonfires in the evenings to stay warm. Indoor heating devices such as heaters and blowers are in high demand. The elderly are particularly affected, with an increase in hospital visits for BP-related issues. Students are also struggling with the cold, leading to delays in reaching school on time.
The coming days promise colder nights and foggy mornings, urging citizens to take precautions and stay warm.
