Ranchi: Two workers of a New Delhi-based company, NK Kapoor and Company, died after being knocked down by a truck near Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad late yesterday night.
The deceased were sleeping on a nearby ground when a truck ran over them. They died at the scene.
The deceased, identified as Raju and Navin Tiwary, had been brought to the venue of 36th convocation of ISM attended by President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday.
They had come here to prepare an air conditioned pandal on the ISM premises. The pandal was dismantled after the programme late evening. The two workers were sleeping in the open near the venue. The killer truck, reportedly belonging to a Ranchi-based tent supplier, ran over the workers on its way to Ranchi.
The truck driver escaped the scene with the vehicle. The company officials could not furnish details regarding the whereabouts of the workers. Police sent the bodies to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science for postmortem examination.
