Seraikela, Sep 15: The Sadar hospital in Seraikela is witnessing a high number of patients complaining of viral fever due to the change in season.

After several cases of Diarrhea were confirmed, hospitals in the district have been placed on high alert. The superintendent of Sadar Hospital said we have asked all doctors in private hospitals to be on the lookout for any cases of swine flu, we are also conducting public awareness campaigns in schools and colonies to ensure people take the right precautions.

The Hospital is under public scrutiny. Lack of facilities, shortage of doctors and paucity of medicines has plagued the hospital, which is a major health care centre in the District. Added to this were the bureaucratic tangles that blocked the disbursal of funds earmarked for the hospital development.

The area around the hospital is always stinking and heaps of garbage is always seen lying in the region which is one of the major causes of disease spreading and making life difficult for the patients who are being treated at the hospital. The urgent problems at the hospital included paucity of medicines, including paracetamol, and cotton used for dressing.

The Municipality people are least bothered about the cleanliness and with several complain being registered the officers is not taking the matter seriously.
