Seraikela: Marking the completion of 25 years since the formation of Saraikela-Kharsawan district, a grand district-level celebration was organized at the Saraikela Town Hall, celebrating the district’s journey of growth and development. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief and distinguished guests.
Delivering the welcome address, Sub-Divisional Officer Abhinav Prakash highlighted the district’s progress since its inception. He reflected on achievements across various sectors, including infrastructure, education, and governance, while also outlining future goals aimed at holistic development.
The program featured cultural performances and thematic presentations that conveyed important social messages. Through these activities, awareness was raised on issues such as social harmony, women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, and the preservation of cultural heritage. The performances not only entertained the audience but also inspired collective responsibility toward societal development.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guests urged citizens, elected representatives, and government officials to work in unity for the district’s comprehensive progress. Emphasis was laid on strengthening key sectors such as education, healthcare, and the Panchayati Raj system to ensure improved public services.

Superintendent of Police Mukesh Lunayat, in his address, stressed the importance of maintaining peace and law and order as a foundation for development. He encouraged citizens to contribute to nation-building through responsible participation. Highlighting a major achievement, he noted that Chauka Police Station secured the top rank in Jharkhand in the national police rankings last year, bringing pride to the district.
Deputy Development Commissioner Reena Hansda emphasized the need for introspection and evaluation of the district’s 25-year journey to plan effectively for the future. She drew attention to ongoing efforts to eliminate social evils, particularly the practice of witch-hunting (Dayan Pratha), and called for stronger awareness campaigns and collective action to eradicate such practices completely.

The event also underlined the importance of women’s empowerment, employment generation, and the promotion of art and culture as key pillars of sustainable development. The younger generation was encouraged to participate in shaping society and contributing to the nation’s progress.
On this occasion, persons who had made significant contributions in areas such as combating witch-hunting, promoting women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, and preserving folk art were honored with ceremonial Angavastram. Additionally, students who excelled in competitions like Rangoli and painting, organized across schools during State Foundation Day celebrations, were felicitated with mementos.

The Celebration was graced by prominent dignitaries including District Council Chairperson Sonaram Bodra, Vice-Chairperson Madhushree Mahato, Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Manoj Kumar Chaudhary, Vice-Chairperson Avinash Kavi, MLA representative Sanand Acharya, Padma Shri awardees Chhutni Mahato and Chami Murmu, along with senior administrative officials and a large number of citizens.
