Seraikela, Sept 26: Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration has tightened its girdles to ensure peaceful celebration of Durga Puja. Deputy Commissioner (DC) A Dodde and Superintendent of Police (SP) Karthik S convened a meeting of district level peace committee to review security preparations at the Collectorate here on Thursday.
Addressing the puja organizers, the DC said the role of all stakeholders was vital in ensuring peace during the festival. He said all committee members should work in tandem to make sure no untoward incident takes place anywhere during puja. He appealed to the committee members to participate actively in the puja and establish smooth coordination with the district administration.
Dodde said the district had no history of any major disturbance during puja. He said members of all communities should share the festive joy together and help the administration keep peace round the clock.
The DC said stringent action would be taken against hooligans and rumour-mongers. He said the idol immersion processions should be taken out through pre-determined routes. He further said that strict action would be taken against those found spreading rumours on social media.
The SP said those having any vital information or tip-off should pass it on to the police through Shakti App. He also warned puja committees against extorting people for donation.
Adityapur Mayor Vinod Kumar Srivastava appealed to all citizens to celebrate the festival with harmony and brotherhood.
