Seraikela, May 5: Seraikela-Kharsawan police made a breakthrough in tightening noose around bootleggers by confiscating a big haul of illicit liquor in Kandra on Wednesday.
According to Rajan Kumar, officer in-charge of Kandra police station, several cartons of fake foreign liquor were recovered from a car near Giddibera toll plaza on the basis of a tip-off.
“We had received information about several people carrying fake foreign liquor in a car through the toll plaza. A team was sent to the spot to check the vehicles passing through the toll plaza. During checking, 70 bottles of fake foreign liquor were found in a car. We also seized 15 cartons of empty liquor bottles kept on the rear seat,” said Kumar.
Cops arrested the car driver Arjun Mandal after he failed to provide the cops any documents to justify possession of the liquor consignment.
