Jamshedpur: Members of South Eastern Zone All India Loco Running Staff Association have decided to stage dharna against a decision of the Railway to reject medical reports of train drivers issued by private doctors.
The outfit members posted in Chakradharpur took the decision in a meeting held at Tatanagar on Thursday. The outfit general secretary Paras Kumar said the Railway had issued orders as per which the train drivers will not be granted leave on the basis of sickness certificate given by private medical practitioners.
He said the railway hospital did not have facilities to conduct all necessary medical check tests of railway employees.
Sources said there was shortage of train drivers in South Eastern railway zone.
Due to the shortage, train drivers are not being allowed to avail leave on the basis of certificates given by private doctors.
