Jamshedpur, Jan. 24 : In view of rising passengers� demand, the South Eastern Railway (SER) has decided to run a passenger train between Chakradharpur( in West Singhbhum) and Tatanagar from January 26. The train will runtill March 31.
Officials at Garden Reach, the Kolkata-based headquarters of South Eastern Railway added that depending on the response the train might get an extension beyond March 31.
“In view of passengers’ demand the train is being flagged off. Several passengers travel between the two stations daily. Apart from clearing extra rush of passengers, the new passenger train will help railways to earn a good revenue,” said Bhaskar, spokesperson of Chakradharpur railway division.
The Chakradharpur-Tatanagar Special (08011) will leave Chakradharpur at 11am . The train will reach Tatanagar at 12.55 pm, the same day covering a distance of around 90 Kms. In the opposite direction, the train (08012) will leave Tatanagar at 1.30 pm and it will reach Chakradharpur railway station at 3.05 pm the same day.
The passenger train will have stoppages at Barabamboo, Rajkharswan, Mahalimarup, Sini, Birbans, Gamharia and Adityapur between Chakradharpur and Tatanagar. The train (08011/08012) will run with 12 unreserved sleeper class coaches.
The Chhotanagpur Passenger Association hailed the railway decision.�Chakradharpur is the highest revenue earning railway division in terms of freight in the country. It has been long waited demand of the people of Chakradharpur. The town has also been included in the route of Rajdhani Express keeping in view the demand of passengers,� noted U K Srivastava, a functionary of the association.
Located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route Tatanagar is an important station. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers.
