SEEDS organises ‘Systematic Vegetable Cultivation’ orientation program

Jamshepur, Dec. 9: SEEDS (Socio Economic and Education Development Society) organized an orientation programme in Systematic Vegetable Cultivation whereby it oriented five farmers groups from Kumbia, Lemra, Churgi, Dubil and Sunkra villages. Thereafter the Secretary of SEEDS, Dr Shubhra Dwivedy distributed 12 types of high yielding vegetable seeds to the marginalized farmers. According to the self – prepared action plan of the farmers, they will collectively till the land, prepare the soil and sow the seeds by 15th December.

Earlier in the day, 360 numbers of all – wool blankets and cream biscuit packets were distributed to as many senior citizens and single women from 12 villages. They were invited at the SEEDS Resource Centre in Mamar village in Saranda where Dr Shubhra Dwivedy and the SEEDS Coordinator Jagabandhu Sanda handed over the items to them. As in previous years, this year too, the blankets were donated by Bailey Bodhanwala, the President of SEEDS. The field personnel of SEEDS in the Saranda area – Inda Jamuda, Dilip Gope, Sandigi Purty and Jano Cherowa made sincere efforts to make both the programmes meaningful for the people living the wilderness.

The Socio Economic and Education Development Society, popularly known as SEEDS, works in nearly 700 interior villages and hamlets in five districts of Jharkhand. This includes 30 villages in the Saranda forest zone – the largest sal tree forests of Asia extending to 820 square kilometres.
