Security guard opens fire outside jewellery store at Bistupur, three arrested

Jamshedpur: Police arrested three persons, including an armed security guard for indulging in brawl leading the guard to open fire outside Kuldip Sons Jewellers showroom on Bistupur Main road at about this afternoon.

Those arrested were identified as Bajrang Shah ( 25), the security guard who opened fire, Ramgopal Sharma ( 32) and Mahavir Prasad Sharma ( 30), who had come from Bagbera to fight with one of the staff of the jewellery store.

Though no one was injured in the firing, but the car in which Sharmas had come was partially damaged due to the firing. The police have seized the licensed gun of the security guard and also seized the damaged car.

The firing incident triggered sensation on the busy main road. The shop-keepers in the neighbourhood ran for the cover. As the news spread a police party from the Bistupur police station arrived at the scene, bringing the situation under control.

Revealing about the incident, officer-in-charge, Bistupur police station Srineewash said that both Ramgopal and Mahavir are brothers and residents of Bagbera.

“As per our investigation, both had come to Kuldeep Sons Jewellers, the jewellery store to talk to one of its staff Manohar Gope with whom they had a dispute over some landed property at Bagbera. During the talk outside the jewellery shop, the Sharmas had got indulged into an altercation with Gope and subsequently started assaulting him. On seeing the staff of the jewellery store being attacked by outsiders, the security guard fired a shot, which missed the target but hit the stationary car belonging to Sharmas,” said the officer-in-charge.

Srineewash said they arrested the guard as he opened fire on a busy road without considering the fact that it may hit to any commuters. He said they arrested Sharma brothers because they had created violence at a public place.
