Security forces uncover Naxal bunker with rocket launcher

Chaibasa: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing joint operation against the CPI-Maoist, the West Singhbhum district police, in collaboration with security forces, have achieved a major success. The operation, initiated on October 10 in the border areas of Kuida, Chhota Kuida, Maradiri, Meralgada, Hathiburu, Tilaybeda Boypaisang, Katamba, Bayhatu, Boroy, Lemsadih, Husipi, Rajabasa, Tumbahaka, Regada, Patatorab, Goburu, and Luiya, has resulted in the recovery of a 5 kg IED bomb and a rocket launcher gun.

During the latest phase of the operation on November 25th and 26th, security forces targeted the forest and hilly areas near Rajabasa village under Tonto police station. The successful raid uncovered three bunkers and camps of the Naxalites at different locations in the village. Among the recovered items were two rocket launcher guns, one 5 kg IED bomb planted by the Naxalites, SLR body parts, four AK-47K20 empty cases, one empty cartridge of BGL, and various everyday items.

Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar provided details of the operation, stating that one of the bunkers, known as Kibramad bunker, had accommodation for at least 40-50 people. However, it was an old bunker and camp that the Naxalites had abandoned long ago. The bunkers and camps were demolished on the spot to neutralize any potential threat.

In addition to the weapons and explosive devices, the recovery included a sewing machine, printer cartridge, 12-volt battery, a substantial quantity of medicine and bandages, 500 liters of Syntax, a 200-liter drum, electric wire, nylon carry bags, tarpaulin, thread reels, lab test tubes, belts, tiffins, Duracell batteries, and various other daily-use items.

The bomb disposal squad safely defused the IED bomb. Superintendent Ashutosh Shekhar emphasized that the campaign against the Naxalites is ongoing, demonstrating the authorities’ commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the region.
