Jamshedpur, June 2 : After finishing the ground work to explore gold reserves at a Sundarnagar village on the outskirts of Jamshedpur, a one-member team of Geological Survey of India (GSI) arrived in the Steel City on Thursday for a final survey before gold exploration.

According to information, the GSI team will start drilling of the proposed survey site within a month and will continue to work for March next year.

Revealing about the project, director, GSI, Jharkhand, AK Sharma said that they had conducted a preliminary survey for the gold reserve atBhitardari near Fategora village in Sundarnagar in 2016 during which they had got enough geological data on the presence of gold reserve there. Apart from Fategora, Kundrukocha, 8km away is also seen as site for gold reserve in Sundarnagar.

We are here now for final survey before we start exploration. Two years ago we traced gold in Fategora. We last year visited the village for getting clearance from the gram sabha and local residents which was mandatory for any such project. We have got green signal and now we are making final survey before kick starting the exploration, noted Sharma.

An GSI official said they are confident of good gold reserves at Fategora. After the final survey exploration work is over, they will hand over the feasibility report to the Government of India for further action.

Meanwhile, KashrayKhudada, a resident of Fategora said that last year a three-member team of GSI, Ranchi, visited village. They also interacted with the local people. He said that the local people are also excited about the development and are hoping for the best. There are hopes that the activities will boost the activities here and will give rise to opportunities.

“The GSI team had before taken consent from the Panchayat to start exploration work. It is a matter of honour for us that there is a gold reserve in our village and the government will start exploration soon. We are hoping for the best, he noted.

Another member of panchayat committee said that as the major chunk of the gold reserve area is on government land and only a small portion falls in Fategora, villagers had no objection to the GSI exploration. They are looking forward to extend their cooperation to make the project successful.
