Jamshedpur, Dec. 17: SDSM School for Excellence organised its 20th annual sports day on Saturday, December 17 at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Tree family was crowned the overall champion of the sports day while Sun family was declared the runner-up. Anugraph Das was awarded the best athlete in super senior boys while Ravneet Kaur was best in super senior girls.
In senior boys Ashish Ranjan was best while Purnima Kumari Laguri was best in girls category. Mountain Family was declared best in March Past.
Earlier, the Chief Guest for the occasion was Subodh Kumar, ADM, Law & Order, East Singhbhum. Chairman of School Managing Committee Diwakar Singh, Principal Mrs. Moushumi Das, Vice-Principal Mrs. Ragini Singh and staff members were present for the occasion.
The programme began by unfurling the flag by the Chief Guest followed by March past of 6 families headed by Aditya Mukhi, President of School Council and all the representatives of six families.
The sports meet was declared open by the Chief Guest followed by releasing of the balloons with a mascot bearing the schools emblem and motto. The Chief Guest in his speech thanked and welcomed the parents and students. He also threw light on the importance of sports for overall development of a student.
Everyone was delighted to watch the synchronized March Past and other Athletic events. Later the audience was enthralled by the display of various drills like Safe Motherland performed by UKG to Std. IV students, cheer leaders performed by Nursery & LKG students, Art of Spirituality performed by Std.V & VI students.
The programme was followed by many sporting events like 75 mts flat race (Boys & Girls), 100 M flat race, 200 M race, 4x100M relay, Fill the Basket with Balls, Bursting the Balloons, Relay races etc.
The kids were excited and it was quite a joy to see how genuine and eager they were to compete or cheer the different families Mountain, Fire, Sun, Moon, Tree and Cloud.
The students showcased their multifaceted talents. It was a mega event and it culminated by the award ceremony where students were awarded trophies and medals by the Guest of Honour Mr. Avinash Kumar, Manager � Sports, Tata Steel.
