Jamshedpur : The Dhalbhum SDO Alok Kumar convened a meeting in view of Eid celebrations in Jamshedpur He issued orders to the Jharkhand Urja Vidyut Nigam Limited (JUVNL) and local urban bodies�Mango notified area committee, Jugsalai municipality, Jamshedpur notified area committee and Tata Steel subsidiary Jusco to repair defective streetlights, loose electrical fires clean garbage ahead of the Id-ul-Fitr (tentatively scheduled on July 18 or 19) in city.
�We have received a defective transformer near Mango Idgah and the JUVNL local officials have been directed to replace the transformer at the earliest ahead of the festivity (tentatively scheduled on July 18 or 19. This apart JUVNL officials have been asked to repair the loose electrical wires, especially those crossing residential area near Idgah and Mosques,� said SDO Dhalbhu Alok Kumar.
The local urban bodies have been asked to make arrangement of adequate number of water tankers to quench thirst of people thronging mosques and Idgah and also arrange for piped water supply in residential areas before the namaj timings. Incidentally, there are five big Idgahs at Jugsalai, Dhatkidih, Mango, Parsudih and Sakchi and nearly 35 mosques in city areas.
To maintain law and order during the festivity apart from adequate number of police personnel on roads there will be around 30 magistrates at different strategic� and communally sensitive locations.
�In several police personnel are being deployed for peaceful observance of Eid festival and to provide adequate security to the people here,� said a police official. He told reporters that CRPF, RAF, policemen and home guards are also being deployed.
Pickets would be posted and round the clock patrolling done to maintain law and order, he said, adding peace committee meetings have been held with various communities, who have assured cooperation for peaceful observance of the festival.
Shopkeepers and neighbours in areas where these people reside have been requested to help them in case of any eventuality. Besides police vehicles, private vehicles have been hired for patrol and plainclothes police would do the rounds in all areas �to send a warning to mischief mongers that they would be caught and apprehended if they tried to create trouble.�
SDO instructed to ensure the security of mosques, Imam Bargahs, Eidgahs, shopping centres, markets, public places, and other important installations as per the Eid contingency plan. He also instructed to make effective police picketing and snap checking on the exits and entrances of sensitive parts of the city and take important steps for police mobile, motorcycle on on-foot patrolling to keep close vigil on suspected elements.
