Jamshedpur, March 1: National Science Day was celebrated virtually at Graduate College for Women on Sunday, February 28. Faculty members and students joined in to witness the programme. Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Manish Kumar Jha, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur. Addressing the gathering virtually Dr Jha informed about various fields open for science students and also motivated the girls for innovation in different fields of science and take the responsibility of entrepreneurship. He also spoke about women empowerment in science fraternity. Dr. D. K. Dhanjal, Principal of the college spoke about the interpretation of science and humanities. She motivated the students to explore and have innovative mind.
A power point presentation on pollution, new inventions in different fields, global warming, coronavirus and quantum physics was displayed by Science department of the college. The girls of B.Ed and science department also participated in poster making competition in which Nagma Parween of Zoology department secured the first position.
