Scholarships distributed among 19 Anglo Indian students in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Aug 4: World Anglo Indian Day is celebrated every year on August 2.

Celebrating the day, members of the Anglo Indian Community Jamshedpur were in a buoyant mood greeting family and friends on Saturday. The members planted a sapling at St. Joseph�s Welfare Centre, Golmuri.

The event started with a prayer by Maryanne Ekka, a senior member of the association.

This was followed by a get together at St. Joseph�s Welfare Centre, Golmuri. 100 members of the association attended the function. The members danced to the lovely music & enjoyed themselves to their heart�s content. Scholarships worth Rs 39,240 were distributed among 19 students of the community for their outstanding results in the Academic Year 2018-19.

There was a surprise hamper organized by Gloria Prabal for all the members. Peter Reid was the winner.

3 rounds of housie were organized for all members. Games like tailing the elephant & counting the gems were organized for kids.  

The following members of the Branch Committee of the association including President Nevada Dalby, Vice Presidents- Garvin Waters and Craig Rosario and others were present.

In keeping up with the love standing legacy of the Anglo Indian community in the field of education the Jamshedpur Branch is organizing their 11th Frank Anthony Memorial English Elocution Contest on Friday, 23rd August 2019 at Tarapore School, Agrico. The Frank Anthony Award for Excellence in studies will be given to the toppers of the ICSE & ISC 2019 examinations at this event.
