Jamshedpur, April 15: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) vice president (Public Relations and Welfare) Mukesh Mittal has requested Tata Steel to allow use of SNTI Technical Library to children of non-employees.
In a letter to Tata Steel vice president (Corporate Services) Chanakya Chaudhary, Mittal said, “For decades since its inception a century ago, Tata Steel, despite being the producer of steel, has been alive to the social needs and aspirations of the people inhabiting this Steel City which is clearly reflected in the policies pursued by the Company for upliftment of the vulnerable population. Company has provided lot of civic amenities which even Metro cities of the country stand no comparison.”
He stated, “Tata Steel, in order to cater to the educational needs of its employees, has established long ago a Technical Library exclusively for use by its employees only. It is understood that the technical books available in the SNTI Library are being made good use of by its technical personnel to enhance their knowledge and keep themselves abreast of the latest developments in steel making, power plant operations, etc. In short, technical personnel of Tata Steel are immensely benefited by this Library facility provided to them.”
Mittal further said that there are thousands of children in Jamshedpur who are pursuing technical education but are unable to afford buying costly technical books to effectively pursue their studies due to vulnerable economic condition of their parents.
He requested Tata Steel VP that a proper system with requisite checks and balances for
security of assets of the Library may be evolved so that these vulnerable/underprivileged
children also get access to the technical books available in the SNTI Library.

After 70 years, a genuine appeal submitted to the Tata Steel to allow use of SNTI Library to children of non-employees. This will help a lot to weaker section families.

Unfortunately, beyond two rivers other than Tats Steel lease hold area, there is no concept of library or amusement parks concept with safety and security. For senior citizens above 70 years old there is no safe park to sit in the morning hours for 30 minutes. Do we have any such schemes covered by government or companies.?
