Jamshedpur, April 25: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) facilitated a crucial meeting with Mohammad Shamsul Arif, First Secretary (Commercial) at the High Commission of Bangladesh in India, aimed at fostering business prospects for entrepreneurs in Kolhan.
President Vijay Anand Moonka and Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia jointly announced the gathering, emphasizing the Chamber’s commitment to providing new avenues for Kolhan’s business community. Moonka highlighted the Chamber’s ongoing efforts to invite representatives from various countries for extensive discussions, culminating in this significant interaction with the First Secretary (Commercial) from Bangladesh.
The meeting served as a platform for Kolhan’s entrepreneurs to gain comprehensive insights into expanding their businesses into Bangladesh. With billions of dollars in exports from India to Bangladesh annually, Moonka encouraged local businessmen to explore the vast potential available.
Mohammad Shamsul Arif shed light on the abundant opportunities awaiting Indian businessmen in Bangladesh, citing the annual imports of commodities like cotton, vehicles, and rice amounting to approximately $14 billion. Arif also emphasized the potential for Indian businessmen to tap into Bangladesh’s mining, steel production, and rerolling mill industries.
Arif outlined the necessary steps for setting up businesses in Bangladesh, including applying to the Investment Development Authority in Dhaka and facilitating meetings with relevant government ministries upon request.
The meeting concluded with a vibrant exchange of questions and answers between Arif and the attending business entrepreneurs. Chamber Secretary (Industry) Vinod Sharma extended a vote of thanks, acknowledging the collaborative efforts to explore and capitalize on business opportunities between India and Bangladesh.
