Jamshedpur: A three day mediators’ training camp is going to be organized at the Jamshedpur Civil Court from 25th to 27th February.

It is being held under the joint aegis of Jharkhand Legal Service Authority, District Legal Service Authority and National Legal Service Authority. It will be inaugurated by Supreme Court Judge Adarsh Kumar Goyal.

The camp organizers informed that the advocates from all 24 districts of the state will be participating in the camp. The other distinguished guests will include Jharkhand High Court Judge Justice DN Patel, who is also the chairman of JHALSA, and Justice Aparesh Singh.

DLSA secretary BK Lal informed that the benefits of the training camp will be evident in the days to come. He said the camp was being started from Jamshedpur. He said anyone in need of legal assistance could approach the DLSA office for help. “The needy people will be provided free legal help. They will be provided the services of advocates,” Lal said.

Lal said there are provisions for giving compensation to victims of rape or acid attacks. Such victims are given help in cash under the Victim Compensation Scheme 2016 of the government. Such people may apply to the DLSA office. A district level committee has also been set up for this purpose. In East Singhbhum itself, many such victims have been given compensation under the said scheme, Lal said.

The DLSA secretary further said that government help is also provided in cases lodged by SC and ST category people. In such cases, the compensation is given within two to three months of departmental enquiry, he said.
