Saryu Roy Urges Jharkhand Minister to Hand Over Jamshedpur PM Awas Flat Keys by June 15

Jamshedpur: The MLA of Jamshedpur West has issued a reminder to State Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu to ensure that beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PM Awas) receive the keys to their flats by June 15.

Tagging Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu on the social media platform X, Roy wrote: “I want to send a polite reminder to @kumarsudivya Ji to fulfill his promise of handing over the flats to Jamshedpur’s PM Awas beneficiaries before June 15. I personally inspected the flats up to the fourth floor this morning. Maintenance work is currently underway in some of them. Please grant the beneficiaries permission to take possession of their flats by June 15.”

Roy stated that he visited the construction site on Saturday morning to assess the status of the flats being built under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana. While two blocks are fully prepared, he went inside and checked every flat up to the fourth floor of another block. During his inspection, he found several flats in excellent condition. However, cracks have appeared intermittently in some units due to the use of black bricks, and the cement is flaking off in a few others.

Roy pointed out that authorities initially planned to allocate the flats by May 31, but failed to do so. The administration then set a new deadline for June 15. Noting that today is June 13, he urged Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu to keep his word this time and ensure beneficiaries receive their keys by June 15, emphasizing that the government must honour its promise. The MLA added that he will be in Ranchi on Sunday, where he plans to meet the Urban Development Minister in person to discuss securing the keys for the needy.
