Monsoon Preparedness: Jamshedpur to Launch QRTs for Rainy Season

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan reviewed pre-monsoon preparedness across the district’s urban areas. Focusing on public safety and minimizing daily disruptions, the administration is rolling out proactive infrastructure checks and emergency response measures ahead of the heavy rains.

Key directives from the meeting include:

  • Quick Response Teams & Helplines: All urban local bodies must form Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and widely publicize toll-free helpline numbers so citizens can promptly report waterlogging and emergencies.
  • Sanitation & Drainage: Officials must clear all drainage channels immediately to prevent water accumulation.
  • Waterlogging Solutions: The DC ordered sustainable, long-term interventions for chronic flooding hotspots identified over the past three years.
  • Water Supply: Teams will inspect and repair water networks to guarantee uninterrupted drinking water.
  • Flood Shelters: Authorities are mapping out community centers and government buildings near the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers to serve as temporary shelters with essential facilities if water levels rise.

Top officials from the Mango Municipal Corporation, JNAC, Jugsalai Municipal Council, Chakulia Nagar Panchayat, and JUSCO attended the meeting to streamline inter-agency coordination.
