Saryu Roy to honour Good Samaritans who helped flood victims

Jamshedpur, Aug 22: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy will be felicitating citizens, especially youths, who helped flood affected people of the city in the past three days. The felicitation will take place on 28th August.

Roy, in a statement issued here on Monday, said he had visited various places in his constituency after flash floods and noticed several people including youths helping the affected families on their own initiative. Such Good Samaritans should be honoured, he said.

Roy said the Balajee Annapurna Bhojnalaya opened by him at Baridih also distributed Khichdi, Puri, Sabzi, jiggery, idli and chura (beaten rice) among the affected families for two days. Many people had volunteered to serve the flood victims, he said.

Roy also praised the district administration, officials of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and other civic bodies and organizations for discharging their duties sincerely. He said the administration had taken precautionary measures well in advance and saved many lives by taking them to shelter houses just in time.
