Saryu Roy to contest from Jamshedpur West, JDU allotted ‘Gas Cylinder’ as party symbol for Jharkhand elections

Jamshedpur, Oct 16: Veteran politician Saryu Roy is set to contest the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections from Jamshedpur West under the ‘Gas Cylinder’ symbol. This election symbol, previously used by the Bharatiya Janatantra Morcha, has been assigned to the Janata Dal (U) following the merger of both parties.

The Election Commission of India, in a letter dated October 16, 2024, confirmed the allocation of the ‘Gas Cylinder’ symbol to JDU for the Jharkhand elections. Jasmeet Kaur, Under Secretary at the Election Commission Secretariat, informed the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand about this decision.

While JDU is recognized in Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur with the “Arrow” symbol, the party will contest under the ‘Gas Cylinder’ symbol in Jharkhand. Roy, who used the same symbol in the 2019 elections, will once again represent it as he contests for Jamshedpur West.
