Saryu Roy raises alarm over Jamshedpur law and order

Jamshedpur, June 22: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy conducted a meeting on Thursday with key workers from various police station areas to address the growing concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation and corruption within the police stations in Baridih.

The meeting, presided over by BJM District President Subodh Srivastava, saw divisional presidents provide information about the criminal incidents that have occurred within their respective divisions. These incidents primarily include theft, snatching, robbery, gambling, drug addiction, and other serious crimes.

The divisional presidents highlighted the lack of concrete action taken by the police despite reporting the incidents to the police stations. They expressed their disappointment that the authorities only provided food to the complainants without actively pursuing the cases. This lack of swift action has contributed to the escalating crime rate. It was also revealed that a nexus exists between the police station in-charges, their bodyguards, drivers, and other private individuals, fostering an environment conducive to recurring criminal incidents.

MLA Saryu Roy stated that the meeting was called due to the emerging concerns about the police’s attitude and administrative actions, which have been brought to light in recent days in Jamshedpur. He noted that similar types of crimes are recurring within the city, but the police force fails to take proactive measures in apprehending the culprits.

Roy emphasized the need to apprehend the gangs involved in theft, snatching, robbery, gambling, drug addiction, and illegal sand mining, stating that crime cannot be curbed until the gang operators are apprehended. He further highlighted the illegal transportation of sand from river ghats, ranging from Bhuiandih to Babudih, which has continued under the administration’s indifferent watch.

Recalling the incident during Ram Navami, Roy expressed concerns about the administration’s questionable actions at that time. He noted that such incidents sent a message throughout the city that there would be no one to listen to those advocating for the interests of Hindus.

MLA Saryu Roy urged the workers to compile a list of crime incidents and unethical activities occurring within their respective areas. He requested them to submit a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police (SSP) regarding the actions taken or not taken by the police in each case. If there is no improvement in the law and order situation despite these efforts, he warned that a mass movement strategy would be considered. The meeting saw the participation of prominent individuals such as Kulwinder Singh Pannu, Mukul Mishra, Manoj Singh Ujjain, M Chandrasekhar Rao, Bhaskar Mukhi, Vandana Namta, Vikas Gupta, Dharmendra Prasad, Akash Shah, and others.
