Jamshedpur, Sept 09: MLA Saryu Roy has raised objections to the recent transfer of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur), Prabhat Kumar and has written a letter to Jharkhand Chief minister Hemant Soren to the effect.
Roy expressed his concern over the disregard of terms in the recent transfer of the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner and drew a parallel line in the disregard of norms in the transfer of the Jamshedpur SSP.
Legislator Saryu Roy had recently called for a halt to such transfers of officials, which had been executed before the completion of their minimum prescribed tenure. He noted that the transfers of both the SSPs of East Singhbhum and Ranchi were executed before the completion of minimum prescribed tenure. “These transfers have raised concerns of political interference and are likely to affect the morale of police and administrative officials, ultimately impacting public welfare,” mentioned Roy in his letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Saryu Roy also highlighted that he had previously raised questions in the Legislative Assembly about the premature transfers of Indian Administrative Service officers on July 31, 2023. For the records, he mentioned that in 2020, 65, in 2021, 69 and in 2022, 80 officers were transferred before completion of their minimum tenure that was stipulated in the government regulations.
