Jamshedpur, April 5: In response to the escalating heat and impending water scarcity in Jamshedpur, MLA Saryu Roy has directed officials from both the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Limited (UISL) to swiftly address the issue of inadequate drinking water supply across all localities. Roy emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to tackle the challenge effectively.
Roy instructed the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Jamshedpur NAC to compile a comprehensive list of settlement areas facing water shortages during the summer months, necessitating water supply via tanker. He underscored the importance of expediting water supply infrastructure projects, particularly in areas like Bhuiyandih, Gwala Basti, Babudih, and Lal Bhatta. Additionally, Roy urged for accelerated progress on laying water supply pipelines in Jojobeda to alleviate water scarcity in these regions.
To ensure seamless water distribution, Roy called for the deployment of separate tankers for areas reliant on both drinking water projects. The Deputy Municipal Commissioner assured the provision of at least half a dozen additional water tankers and pledged to promptly compile the list of water-scarce settlements.
Furthermore, Roy issued a stern warning to Jamshedpur NAC regarding the deteriorating cleanliness standards in slum areas. Expressing dissatisfaction with the negligence of cleaning contractors, particularly in Prem Nagar and Laxmi Nagar, Roy emphasized the urgency of restoring proper cleaning services. He instructed the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to demand a list of laborers from all cleaning contractors for monitoring purposes, stressing that negligence in cleanliness maintenance was unacceptable.
Addressing the persistent complaints regarding cleanliness lapses, Roy urged the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to expedite the resolution of cleaning arrangements within the next few days. He underscored the importance of preparing a schedule for cleaning contractors to enhance accountability and efficiency in maintaining cleanliness standards across Jamshedpur.
