Saryu Roy demands ownership right for 86 slums of Jamshedpur

Mail News Service
Jamshedpur, Nov 9: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy Saturday demanded ownership right for the residents of all 86 slums of Jamshedpur on the lines of decision taken by the Centre regarding regularization of illegal slums in New Delhi.
In a press statement issued here today, Roy said he had spoken to several senior BJP leaders in New Delhi on the issue of ownership right and found out that giving ownership right to the people living in the slums of Jamshedpur is very much possible.
I am told that several people had gone to Prime Minister Narendra Modis residence to thank him for the ownership right given by the Centre to the rsidents of unauthorized bastis. The PM also congratulated the slum residents. If this can be done in New Delhi, the same can be done in Jamshedpur. No tenancy law can hinder this plan, said Roy.

Roy said he was ready to take the initiative for getting ownership rights for the people of various bastis in Jamshedpur including Mango. He said ownership rights could be given to the residents through legislation. He said he had tabled a private Bill in the Jharkhand Assembly in 2007.
