Ranchi: Here is some good news for the beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana in Jharkhand. During the ongoing Budget Session of the Jharkhand Assembly, Chamra Linda, the Minister for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Backward Classes Welfare, addressed the concerns regarding delayed payments. He explained that the current delay is due to an extensive verification and screening process aimed at refining the list of beneficiaries.
Consolidated Payment of ₹5,000
Minister Linda assured the House that the 18th installment of the scheme will be released before the Holi festival. Significantly, those beneficiaries who have not yet received their 17th and 18th installments will receive a consolidated payment of ₹5,000 (₹2,500 per month) directly into their bank accounts. This move is intended to ensure that women in the state can celebrate the festival of colors without financial constraints.
Ineligible Beneficiaries to be Removed
The Minister emphasized that a list revision is underway to identify women who are currently receiving benefits but do not meet the eligibility criteria. These names will be permanently removed from the system, while eligible women who were previously left out are being added.
Criteria for Removal from the Scheme:
- Women under 18 or over 60 years of age.
- Applicants who provided false information or forged documents.
- Economically self-sufficient women or those holding government jobs/pensions.
- Those without an Aadhaar-linked bank account.
- Families with members employed by the Central or State Government.
First Phase: 12 Districts Targeted
According to sources, the verification process is expected to be completed first in 12 districts, including Ranchi, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Bokaro, Gumla, Lohardaga, Jamshedpur, Jamtara, Simdega, Chatra, Pakur, and Garhwa. Beneficiaries in these districts are likely to receive their payments in the first stage, followed by the remaining districts as soon as their verification concludes.
