Saryu Roy demands apology from BJP Bengal over insult to Sikh IPS officer

Jamshedpur: East MLA Saryu Roy has strongly criticized BJP officials for derogatory remarks against Bengal IPS Jaspreet Singh, labelling him as a Khalistani while carrying out his duties in Sandeshkhali. Saryu expressed his disapproval, stating that the Leader of Opposition in Bengal has demeaned the Sikh community within the Bengal cadre during their duty.

Addressing the issue, Roy asserted that if an IPS officer is unjustly labelled as a Khalistani, an immediate retraction and apology to the nation are warranted. He called upon the central leadership to provide clear instructions in this matter. Roy emphasized that making racist remarks, even in the heat of political excitement, is unacceptable. Such comments pose a threat to the unity and integrity of the country.

Welcoming Saryu’s stance, Satnam Singh Gambhir, the East India President of All India Sikh Students Federation, expressed gratitude and thanked him for standing against the derogatory remarks. His call for an apology reflects a commitment to fostering a more inclusive and respectful political discourse, irrespective of differences in opinion or ideology.
