Jamshedpur, September 14: Interacting with the media at his Bistupur residence, Jamshedpur East legislator Saryu Roy took the Jamshedpur police to task for their dithering ways in functioning. He accused the police of partiality while dispensing its responsibilities. He highlighted recent instances to underline his allegations.

Saryu Roy pointed out that an FIR had been registered against Brajesh Singh alias Munna Singh under the Scheduled Castes/Tribes Act at Kadma police station on September 7, 2024. Despite being granted bail, Munna Singh was re-arrested the following day with additional charges under the POCSO Act. The police subsequently seized his licensed weapon, which had not been returned, nor had the seizure list been provided.

On this score, Roy said that a similar FIR (No. 109/2024) was filed on June 29, 2024, in Kadma police station, with the same sections applied as in Munna Singh’s case. Despite this, no arrests had been made against the FIR, raising questions about selective enforcement.

Munna Singh faced a notice from JNAC regarding a shop running in the parking area of his house, threatening demolition if not removed. JNAC has also issued a notice against Pushpanjali community hall in Kadma, while an illegal two-storey building had been constructed in front of the Health Minister Banna Gupta’s residence, funded by district plan funds, but no action had come forth from JNAC or the district administration.

The legislator further stated that foundations for DN Library and a convention center were laid during a previous MLA’s tenure. He said that the Health Minister’s illegal occupation of Food Plaza’s land led to the construction of the convention center, which remained incomplete and in disrepair.

He alleged that two roads in Kadma had been closed due to pressure from the Health Minister, with legal action taken against Sanjeev Acharya by someone close to the Minister. Saryu Roy went on to point out that the Health Minister had constructed a large shed on a public road near his hotel, yet this illegal setup had gone unnoticed by JNAC and the district administration.

Raising an accusing finger, Roy said that an FIR No. 15/2022, filed by the District Tourism Officer at Sidgora Police Station, remained unresolved despite multiple inquiries in the Assembly. Speaking to the media, the legislator added that the government and district administration had been silent on the Health Minister’s alleged misconduct, including multiple FIRs and a defamation case filed against a local MLA. He said the Health Minister reportedly ordered an FIR against the MLA twice, which was eventually filed by one of his peons when official channels did not act. He also said that an FIR was filed by the Health Minister at Bistupur police station regarding a viral video of him speaking obscenely, with the investigation reportedly stagnant even after two years. He accused the Health Minister of illegally occupying the Chief Secretary’s residence in Ranchi whereas no action had been taken on this score by successive Chief Ministers.

In conclusion, Saryu Roy observed that there was a perceived collusion between local police administration and the Health Minister’s illegal activities, with the state government remaining silent over these issues.
