Saryu Rai seeks action against department for wrong answers on Moharda water project

Ranchi, December 22: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai asked the assembly speaker to take action against officials for giving misleading answers in assembly on Moharda drinking water supply project in Birsangar area of Jamshedpur.

Rai has sent a letter to the Speaker in this regard. It is requested in the letter that action should be taken against those who mislead by giving misleading answers to the assembly.

“Through supplementary questions, there was no opportunity to correct the mistakes contained in the respective answers. Because of this, I am drawing your kindly attention to the mistakes contained in these answers so that they can be rectified through the prescribed procedure,” the letter written to speaker by Saryu Rai states.

The letter states that answer given by drinking water and sanitation department is incomplete, wrong and confusing.

“They have not given any reply in the DPR of the project regarding the settling pond to be created with the intake well. There is only one GSR in the scheme which is dilapidated. In just 10 years, the water tower has become dilapidated. Because of which they are not being cleaned. The department should submit the DPR of this project, so that it can be known that for what population this project was prepared and what was the purpose of its preparation? Due to which different raising main lines have not been laid to fill water in different water bodies, due to which water is supplied in some locality in the morning, in some locality in the afternoon and in some in the evening. The statement of the department is totally wrong that till the year 2017, drinking water supply was being done smoothly. In fact, keeping in mind the failure of this scheme, it was transferred from Drinking Water and Sanitation Department to Urban Development Department and then to JUSCO in 2017,” the letter adds.

Similarly the letter informs that the answer given by urban development department is misleading and full of mistakes.

“The department has not even answered my question and said that the supply of drinking water starts every day before 5 am, which covers the entire area for 12 to 13 hours. This reply of the department is incorrect. In this regard, I am enclosing some copies of the supply schedule issued every day by JUSCO, the organization operating the drinking water supply, for your perusal. By which it will be known at what time of the day in which locality the water is supplied,” the letter adds.

“In the light of the above details, it is requested that both the departments be asked the reason for giving wrong answer and the responsibility fixed for running the drinking water supply project made by spending crores of rupees smoothly” the letter concludes.
