Jamshedpur, April 12: The first ‘Active Forever’ Open Rapid Chess Tournament was successfully organised by the Avengers Chess Academy at ILS Hall on Saturday. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from players across the city and nearby areas.
The tournament was played over five rounds with a time control of 10 minutes and a 5-second increment. After a series of competitive matches, Sarwar Ali emerged as the winner, securing 4.5 points. Rohit Mishra also scored 4.5 points but finished second based on tie-break rules, while Sushim Chaturvedi claimed the third position.
Cash prizes were awarded to the top seven players. The winner received Rs 2,500 along with a trophy, while the runner-up and third-place holder were awarded Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 respectively. All participants were given medals and certificates, adding to the excitement of the event.
The tournament was conducted under the leadership of Tournament Director Sushant Jumba, with FA Vikram Kumar serving as the Chief Arbiter. Arka Mandal and Aditya Singh also played key roles in organising the event.
Dr. Prabha Rao Singh attended the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest, along with Advocate A.K. Singh and Aparajita. The guests appreciated the participants and presented awards, encouraging players to continue pursuing chess with dedication.
