Sarna Samiti members meet CM, demand anti-conversion Bill

Ranchi: A delegation comprising members of Kendriya Sarna Samiti met Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Sunday and demanded government protection to the tribal religious and cultural practices.

The delegation members led by the outfit president Phulchand Tirkey demanded that Sarna religion code should be included in the Census form and an anti-conversion Bill be passed apart from taking away reservation benefits from Adivasis resorting to religious conversion.

They also demanded that security be provided at religious places and that no reservation or other benefits should be given to children whose one parent is a tribal and the other is a non-tribal.

The CM assured the delegation members of taking positive action in connection with their demands. He said the government was dedicated to the cause of the Adivasis living in the state. He said the government will take action in the larger interest of the Adivasis.

The delegation members present on the occasion included Sandeep Oraon, Sunil Fakira, Megha Oraon, Bablu Munda, Shobha Kachchap, Bheekh Oraon, Akash Oraon, Bindeshwar Oraon, Krishnakant Toppo, Kailash Keshri, Vishwas Oraon and Ramdas Oraon.
