Sarhul procession spreads festive spirit across Jamshedpur streets

Jamshedpur, April 11: On Thursday, a grand and vibrant Sarhul procession commenced from Old Sitaramdera under the supervision of the Central Sarhul Puja Committee, captivating thousands of spectators dotted along the streets. Led by Chief Licensee Gangaram Tirkey, the procession commenced from the tribal Oraon Samaj premises in Old Sitaramdera, traversing through various landmarks including Lako Bodra Chowk, Sitaramdera Police Station, and Agrico Light Signal Chowk.

En route, the procession passed through Bhalubasa, Kumhar Pada, Ramleela Maidan, Sakchi Main Roundabout, Basant Cinema Road, Kalimati Road, Tuiladungri Roundabout, and Golmuri before returning to Sitaramdera Adivasi Oraon Samaj Bhawan for a congregation.

In the morning, prayers of Chala Ayo were conducted at various Sarna places across the city, drawing devotees from early hours. The worshippers sought blessings for the prosperity of the tribal community and the preservation of nature’s greenery.

As the tribal community flooded the streets in the Sarhul procession, the city seemed to pause in admiration. Thousands danced to the beats of Nagara, Mandar, Dholak, and Jhal, waving Sarna flags and exchanging Diuri Sakhua flowers. Leaders like Budhu Bhumij, Mahavir Kujur, Budhram Toppo, Gopal Topno, Laxman Minj, and Anadi Oraon led Chala Ayo worship ceremonies across different locations in the city. The procession, marked by graceful and rhythmic dances to the beat of various percussion instruments, melodious folk songs enunciating traditional values and the vibrant celebratory mood, spread the spirit of festivity along the streets of Jamshedpur it passed through much to the delight of the large number of spectators who thronged the routes

Kale participates in Sarhul Mahotsav procession

Jamshedpur, April 11: Former state spokesperson of the Jharkhand BJP, Amarpreet Singh Kale, participated in the Sarhul Mahotsav procession organized by various tribal communities in Jamshedpur. The event, held under the auspices of the Adivasi Munda Samaj, Adivasi Ho Samaj, Adivasi Oraon Samaj, Konka Kamar Karmali Sena Sangharsh Samiti, and Adivasi Samaj Tinplate, saw Kale offering prayers at the Sarna Sthal (place).

During the festivities, Kale extended his warm wishes for Sarhul, emphasizing its significance as a commitment to environmental conservation. He highlighted the festival’s message of harmony and unity among nature, humanity, and the earth, urging all to embrace a life cycle marked by creativity and soil fertility.

Sarhul, a sacred festival dedicated to nature, marked the commencement of the use of new crops after celebration.
