Santhali drama competition attracts huge rural crowd

Jadugoda, July 7: A huge and highly appreciative crowd of villagers watched the Santhali Drama Competition organized by Susar Gaonta Rohinibeda at the Rohini Beda Primary School. The six participating teams included those from Damudih, Nidirghutu (Ghatshila), Jharia (Jadugoda), Amla Tola (Chandanpur), Badheda and Salgadih. The competition was organized on the occasion of Kapadgadi Ghat Buru Bonga. Sarna Opera team of Jharia was awarded the first prize. The play earned kudos and drew lots of appreciation.

The competition organizer Jay Prakash Mardi said, �The drama meet was organized not only for the purpose of entertainment but also to boost the performing talents of the Santhal community so that it can create an impact in Jharkhand.  It is our intent to popularize Santhali drama in other states also and bring laurels to Jadugoda.�

The organizing committee included Girosh Sardar, Raja Soren, Ahilal Sardar, Bosen Tudu, Jasai Mardi, Manik Sardar and others.
