Same-day Aadhaar, birth certificates for newborns at Chakradharpur Railway Hospital

Chakradharpur, Nov 2: The Divisional Railway Hospital, Chakradharpur, achieved a first-of-its-kind milestone by completing Aadhaar enrollment and issuing birth certificates for newborns on the same day of delivery. This remarkable feat marks the first instance of same-day Aadhaar registration for newborns in any Railway Hospital under the South Eastern Railway (SER) zone — and possibly across Indian Railways.

The achievement was made possible through the joint efforts of the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM/CKP), Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS/CKP), the District Collector’s Office, Chaibasa, the Post & Telegraph Department and the Aadhaar Department, Chakradharpur.

Officials informed that the collaboration will continue, with departmental representatives visiting the hospital regularly to carry out Aadhaar registration for newborns. This initiative aims to ensure seamless documentation and timely delivery of essential identity services for infants and their families.

“This coordinated effort will not only simplify the process but also set a benchmark for efficient service delivery across railway hospitals,” said a senior official involved in the initiative.

The move is expected to save parents significant time and effort while ensuring that every child receives prompt access to identity and welfare services from birth.
