Sakchi vendors arrested before protest

Jamshedpur, Sept 22: Every since the district administration launched anti-encroachment drive, Tuesday Market (Mangla Bazaar) has been missing from Sakchi from last couple of months making life difficult for the vendors.

Seeing intense protests by the street vendors association over the last couple of weeks, DC Dr. Amitabh Kaushal deputed three magistrates along with police force at the Sakchi market to combat the protest.

In the morning several hawkers gathered at the point where the Mangla Bazaar is put up and soon they were arrested by Police.

The vendors were taken to Sakchi Police Station and were later released after filling the PR bond. It been 10 weeks and the strict order of the administration the market is still not allowed at any cost.

In regard to these street markets the vendors are now jobless for over 2 month now and demand reinstating of their market area. However the administration doesn’t seem to soften in its decision.
