Gua, June 28: Under the leadership of former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, joint unions, along with SAIL employees, contract workers, supply workers, and public representatives, protested at the Chief General Manager’s office at Gua SAIL. The protest was in demand for the cancellation of the employment of 18 outsiders at the Gua SAIL mines and addressing other worker-related grievances.

Addressing the workers, Madhu Koda highlighted that the joint unions had been continuously agitating since December when 18 outsiders from Bokaro and other states were employed at Gua SAIL. This agitation was led by Madhu Koda and former MP Geeta Koda. Initially, SAIL management assured that the appointments would be revoked, leading to a temporary halt in protests. However, in May, during the election code of conduct, the 18 outsiders were re-employed, prompting renewed protests.

Despite multiple meetings, including a failed negotiation due to the absence of CGM Kamal Bhaskar, the SAIL management has yet to resolve the issue. A crucial meeting is scheduled for July 3 at 4:00 pm. Madhu Koda warned that if no consensus was reached, the joint unions would initiate an economic blockade and shut down SAIL operations from 4:00 pm the same day.

The protest saw participation from various unions, including the Jharkhand Mazdoor Sangharsh Sangh, Bokaro Steel Workers Union INTUC, Supply Mazdoor Sangh, Saranda Mazdoor Sangh, CITU, and Jharkhand Mazdoor Morcha. Key figures present included Rama Pandey, Antaryami Mahakud, Kishore Singh, and numerous other labor leaders and public representatives.
