Jamshedpur, July 4: The Shree Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) is planning to rope in either Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan or master blaster Sachin Tendulkar as brand ambassador for the Saibaba samadhi centenary event.
The event will be observed between October 1, 2017 and October 18, 2018.
“We plan to have either Amitabh Bachchan or Sachin Tendulkar as brand ambassador for the Saibaba samadhi centenary event. We have written a letter to both of them and are awaiting their response,”
Chairperson of the SSST Suresh Haware told reporters here today.
The purpose behind appointing either Bachchan or Tendulkar is to widely publicise the centenary event, said Haware.
On facilities that will be provided to devotees visiting the temple town, Haware said, the sansthan will be constructing a new air-conditioned darshan mandap (queue building for devotees).
At present 60,000 devotees from different parts of the country and abroad visit the Saibaba temple on a
daily basis. The number further swells during festivals like Ram Navami, Guru Pournima, Vijaya Dashmi and on the New Year day.
Yesterday, the Maharashtra cabinet also decided to promulgate an ordinance to amend the Shree Sai Baba Sansthan Trust Shirdi Act of 2004 in view of the centenary celebrations.
