Sahibganj youth arrested in ₹5 Crore Gold Robbery Case by West Bengal Police

Sahibganj: A young man from Sahibganj was apprehended by the West Bengal Police on Friday in connection with a ₹5 crore gold robbery case in Chanchal under the Malda district of West Bengal. The arrest took place during a police raid in the Jirwabari police station area, where the accused, Deepak Kumar, was taken into custody. Following the arrest, West Bengal Police presented him before a court and subsequently took him to Bengal on transit remand.
Jirwabari police station in-charge, Praneeth Patel, provided details about the case, mentioning the gold robbery that occurred in the Chanchal police station area on December 25. The Bengal Police had identified Deepak Kumar Das, a resident of Lohanda participating in the Jhanda Mela at Jirwabari police station area, as a suspect in the incident. Working in collaboration with Jirwabari police station, the West Bengal Police successfully arrested Deepak Kumar and transported him to Bengal.
A total of nine individuals were reportedly involved in the gold robbery, with four hailing from Sahibganj. The West Bengal Police team, led by Inspector Rakesh Kumar Vishwas and including ASI Heera Sheikh, SR Ram, and others, played a crucial role in apprehending the accused.
