SAFE Club undertakes Walk-o-Thon to spread road safety awareness

Jamshedpur, Jan. 22: To mark the occasion of National Safety Week 2016, SAFE in collaboration with AGUPEI (Association of Jharkhand Unaided Private Educational Institutions) , organised a ‘Walk-o-thon’ in the city on Friday.

The program was aimed at creating awareness on the ‘Use of helmet and avoid over speeding’ amongst the citizens of Jamshedpur.

From the Bistupur Zone, seven schools including Jusco School South Park, St. Mary’s English School, Narbheram Hansraj English School, DAV Public School, Bistupur, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, South Park, KMPM Vocational College and River View School participated.

Shovna De , principal , Jusco School South Park, and Father David Vincent, principal , St. Mary’s English School, were the Team Leaders for Bistupur zone “Walk-o-thon.” They coordinated with all the seven schools to make the program a grand success.

The school principals of all the schools flagged off the “Walk-o-thon” at 10.00 am. From each school, 100 participants including students and teachers walked in full vigour and enthusiasm holding banners and posters to spread the message relating to road safety. The Walk-o-thon from these schools culminated at the G. Town Ground, Bistupur.

The programme at the G. Town Ground was graced by the presence of chief guest Vivekanand Thakur , DSP Traffic, East Singhbhum. Addressing the gathering, Thakur asked everyone to follow traffic rules and be safe.

The students of Jusco School South Park and DAV Bistupur presented nukkad nataks on the theme of road safety.

The other dignitaries at the programme included P. Shaurya , officer in-charge , Traffic Safety , Vanadana Mathur, core committee member, SAFE and Chandra Sharan , convener, SAFE , Shovna De, principal , Jusco School South Park, and Father David Vincent , principal , St. Mary’s English School and Safe Club in-charges of various schools.
