Sacred Heart Convent School secures junior girls’ crown at JOGGA Inter-School Athletics Meet

Sumona and Ankit Steal the Show on day 1

Jamshedpur, August 19: The JOGGA Inter-School Athletics Championship concluded successfully at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, after two days of high-energy competition (August 18–19) featuring over 34 participating schools. Organized by Tata Steel’s Sports Department, the meet brought out remarkable performances in both track and field events.

On Day 1, the spotlight fell on the sprints. Sumona Kumari of ADLS Sunshine School claimed the Junior Girls’ 100 meters gold, while Ankit Kumar of Rajendra Vidyalaya stormed to victory in the Junior Boys’ 100 meters, earning the title of the fastest athletes of the meet.

Day 2 witnessed intense finals across categories, with schools battling for top honors. In the Junior Girls’ division, Sacred Heart Convent School secured first place, followed by KPS Gamharia and DBMS Kadma. Jusco School Kadma dominated the Junior Boys’ section, with KPS Kadma and Blue Bells finishing second and third. Among seniors, KPS Gamharia emerged champions in the girls’ category, while Andhra Association claimed the senior boys’ crown.

At the closing ceremony,  Mukul Vinayak Chaudhari, Chief Sports, Tata Steel, felicitated the winners, accompanied by JOGGA and school officials. He lauded the athletes’ dedication and encouraged schools to continue nurturing sporting talent.

Present on the occasion were Firoz Khan, Vice President, JOGGA, Nilam Kumari, Hassan Imam, V. Ramkrishna, Kripal Singh, Shubham Naik and Anish Ibrahim.
