Sacred Heart Convent School Jamshedpur promotes ‘No Drop Wasted’ message on World Water Day

School highlights water and gender link through activities

Jamshedpur, March 23: Students and staff of Sacred Heart Convent School celebrated World Water Day with enthusiasm and creativity, focusing on this year’s theme, “Water and Gender.” The programme aimed to raise awareness about the connection between water security and gender equality.

The day began with activities for younger students. H.KG children participated in a colouring competition promoting the message of water conservation. Students of Classes I and II created paper wrist gear and decorative headgear carrying slogans on saving water.
For Classes III to IX, the school introduced a “No Drop Wasted” initiative. Students collected leftover water from their bottles at the end of the day, which was later used to water plants on campus, promoting practical conservation.

Awareness activities continued across higher classes. Students of Classes VI and VII prepared informative charts on water conservation and the global water crisis. Class VIII students performed street plays, highlighting the struggles faced by women in accessing clean water. Meanwhile, Classes IX and X showcased working models on rainwater harvesting and water management.

The event concluded with a special assembly conducted by Class XII students. A group song on the importance of water created an inspiring atmosphere among attendees.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Sister M. Steffi said, “Small individual actions, like the day’s bottle-water collection, are the first steps toward solving global environmental challenges and achieving gender parity in resource management.”
