Jamshedpur, March 23: Tata Steel’s 8th Annual Environment Meet, +EMPACT 2026, concluded with the identification of several actionable measures aimed at improving environmental performance across its operations. The two-day programme was held on March 18–19 at the Tata Steel Sponge Iron Plant in Joda.
The meet focused on strengthening environmental protection by moving beyond compliance towards a more committed and proactive approach. It brought together environment experts, plant teams, and technology providers from various Tata Steel locations across India.
Discussions centred on practical solutions to improve air and water quality, manage industrial emissions, and promote environmentally responsible operations. Participants also highlighted the importance of adopting modern technologies to enhance sustainability efforts.
Addressing the gathering, Rajiv Mangal, Vice President – Safety, Health & Sustainability, Tata Steel, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable development. He stressed that environmental protection must be integrated into daily operations and long-term planning.
A key highlight of the meet was the emphasis on Tata Steel’s 4C Culture Code—Change, Connect, Contribute, and Care—which encourages proactive environmental management and collaboration across teams.
The second day focused on technology-driven solutions, including air pollution control systems, digital monitoring of water usage, dust and fume extraction, and the use of automation and artificial intelligence for environmental management.
The meet concluded with clear action points for implementation at the plant level. These are expected to improve air and water management, reduce environmental risks, and strengthen engagement with surrounding communities.
