Students honour Our Lady of Mount Carmel through prayers and cultural programmes

Jamshedpur, July 15: Sacred Heart Convent School celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with devotion, gratitude and joy on Wednesday. The occasion was observed to honour Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patroness of the Carmelite Order, and to reinforce the values of prayer, humility, service, purity, simplicity and honesty among students.

A meaningful cultural programme was presented by the High School students. The celebration was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the revered Sisters. A prayer service, devotional songs and a graceful prayer dance were also presented. Handmade greeting cards and bouquets were offered to the Sisters by the students as a mark of respect and gratitude.

A skit depicting the spirit of Carmel, the importance of the Brown Scapular and the missionary journey of Mother Veronica was staged. Through the performance, the contribution of Mother Veronica towards spreading the Carmelite mission across the world was highlighted.

The students were encouraged by Principal Sr. Steffi A.C. to make purity, simplicity and honesty the guiding principles of their lives. It was stated that these values help in building strong character and inspire individuals to become responsible, compassionate and faith-filled citizens. The programme concluded with the singing of the Carmel Anthem.

In the Primary Section, a skit based on Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Prophet Elijah was presented. Devotional songs were sung and bouquets and greeting cards were presented to the Sisters. The students were encouraged by Sister Serena A.C., Manager and Primary Coordinator, to practise Carmelite values in their daily lives. The programme concluded with prayers for peace and blessings.

The Kindergarten students added a special touch to the celebration through a speech on Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Pre-Primary Coordinator Supti Kanaujia.

The Carmel Feast Celebration 2026 was concluded with prayers and thanksgiving, reaffirming the school’s commitment to nurturing students with the enduring values of the Carmelite tradition.
