Sabar and Birhors in Ghatshila to benefit from PM Janman Awas

Ghatshila: The residents of Kendoposhi in Ghatshila are set to receive housing assistance through the Prime Minister’s Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan (PM Janman Yojana). The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Ghatshila, Unika Sharma, addressed the problems faced by the community during an awareness session on Saturday.

The ongoing survey under PM Janman Yojana aims to identify eligible beneficiaries for housing construction, particularly focusing on the primitive tribes of Sabar and Birhor. The survey, covering 22 panchayats in Ghatshila, is scheduled to be completed by Sunday.

Eighteen communities have been identified for PM Janman Awas, and in Ghatshila block, Sabar and Birhors have been included in this category. The initiative is particularly directed towards those Sabar and Birhor community members who currently lack proper housing.

During the awareness session, concerns were, including the case of Kali Sabar (75), who is reportedly not receiving pension benefits. The BDO assured the community that every problem, including pension-related issues, would be addressed through organized camps.
Additionally, the water and sanitation department identified two damaged water towers in Kendoposhi. One of these towers serves around 50 families, and the BDO pledged to address this issue by preparing a list and organizing camps to resolve various problems faced by the Sabar and Birhor communities.
