Jamshedpur, Jan 31: The 27th Annual Sports Day of S.D.S.M. School for Excellence was celebrated with great excitement at Sumant Moolgaonkar Stadium, Telco. The event brought together students, teachers, and parents, creating a lively and competitive atmosphere at the Tinplate Sports Complex.
The ceremony commenced with a grand march-past by the six school families—Mountain, Fire, Sun, Moon, Tree, and Cloud—demonstrating discipline and unity. The school flag was unfurled, and the event was officially declared open by Chairman Diwakar Singh, who lit the ceremonial flame and released the mascot, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship. He was accompanied by Principal Moushumi Das, who expressed her delight at witnessing the students’ enthusiasm and participation.

In his address, Singh emphasized the significance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. “Sports is a way of life. It brings people together, fostering a bond of unity and resilience,” he remarked. Principal Moushumi Das echoed his thoughts, encouraging students to engage in sports with passion and dedication.
The event featured a diverse lineup of activities, beginning with an aerobic yoga display by students of Classes VI and VII. This was followed by thrilling sports competitions, including flat races, the 4x100m relay, “Let’s Enjoy Marketing” race, and the “Race to Bring the Cone.” Students showcased their talent and competitive spirit, while enthusiastic cheers from their peers and teachers added to the excitement.
The highlight of the event was the grand award ceremony, where outstanding performers were honored. The Moon Family emerged as the Overall Champion, while the Tree Family secured the Runner-Up position. The Best Athlete Awards were presented to Deepak Khatri (XI-D) and Bharti Thakur (XII-B) in the Super Senior category, Atharv Singh (X-A) and Astuti Saloni (IX-B) in the Senior category, and Alok Kumar Verma (VIII-D) and Manisha Kumari (VIII-D) in the Junior category. The Fire Family was recognized as the Best March-Past Family.
As the event concluded, Principal Moushumi Das declared the 27th Annual Sports Day closed, congratulating all participants and encouraging them to continue striving for excellence. She emphasized that the event was not just about competition but also about learning values like teamwork, determination, and perseverance. The day ended on a high note, leaving behind cherished memories and a renewed spirit of sportsmanship among students.
