Jamshedpur, Jan 31: In observance of Martyr’s Day, first-year B.Ed. students from DBMS College of Education visited R.P. Patel Cheshire Home in Sundarnagar on Jan 30. The visit provided students with a unique opportunity to engage with mentally challenged individuals and learn more about their needs and challenges. The students interacted with the members through songs and dances, bringing joy to the residents of Cheshire Home.
The visit was part of the B.Ed. curriculum, which includes a subject on inclusive education, aimed at educating students about the causes of disabilities, the needs of disabled individuals, and how they should be treated. This hands-on experience helped the students develop a more balanced perspective towards differently-abled people, raising their awareness about social responsibility. It also reinforced the importance of gratitude for good health and the need to support marginalized communities.
The DBMS College management and Principal have continuously emphasized the importance of social awareness, providing students with opportunities for excursions and social work. The B.Ed. students are gaining valuable insights into inclusive education, which will help them become responsible future educators.
In addition to their visit, the Rotaract Club of DBMS College donated clothes, slippers, and food items to the Cheshire Home as part of their outreach activity. The students were accompanied by faculty members Pamela Ghosh Dutta, Poonam Kumari, Dr. Meenakshi Choudhary, and Angel Munda, who guided them through the visit. (W-mb)
