Rural girls on sports and educational exposure visit Tarapore School

Jamshedpur, March 22: Social organization YUVA (Youth Unity for Voluntary Action) in association with Comic Relief, Kriya New Delhi, People for Change and Tarapore Scholl Management, organized an educational and sports exposure programme for 20 girls from Potka to Tarapore School in Agrico. The visit included ‘Saheli Samvad’ on Gender Gap and a friendly football match.

The event commenced with an introduction to YUVA by its founder, Arvind Tiwari, followed by presentations from Youth and People for Change organizations. School principal Ishita Dey extended a warm welcome to the participants. Saubhik Saha of People for Change facilitated the Saheli Samvad discussion, where ten panelists, including representatives from Tarapore School and YUVA, deliberated on the significance of education in addressing gender inequality and empowering girls.

Anisha Sardar, Reena Sardar, Gudiya Nayak, Anjali Patro, and Priyanka Sardar participated in the discussion, highlighting the need for raising awareness among men to combat gender inequality.

A friendly ‘Maitri Football Match’ was played in which the Potka girls won 2-0. The success of the program was attributed to the support and assistance provided by YUVA members Chandmani Savaiya, Chandrakala Munda, Avanti Sardar, Kiran Sardar, Jyoti Hembram, and Ratan Paul.

Arvind Tiwari observed on conclusion, “The event not only provided educational exposure but also fostered camaraderie and sporting spirit among the participants, contributing to their holistic development.”
